This workshop shares knowledge and understandings required for any Aboriginal Engagement activity including consultation. The workshop offers definitions and a framework for engagement. Many lessons shared come from the native title process – professionally and personally. One definition offered is the Aboriginal Community System that operates within location based Aboriginal Communities. This workshop was originally developed to share the story of the facilitator's hometown and Aboriginal Community of Roebourne in WA. It then developed/ evolved into a model for learning. In this workshop, we cover the following topics: (1) Rapport Building; (2) Aboriginal Engagement Setting; (3) Aboriginal Insights Definitions; (4) Diverse Aboriginal Cultures; (5) Truth & Reconciliation; (6) Stereotypes & Assumptions; and (7) Respect & Relationships.
